Talaq un-Quranic, unconstitutional; PM shouldn’t politicise issue (Mumbai, May 9, 2017)

In mid-May (2017) a Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court of India heard the petitions of several Muslim women (backed by several Muslim women’s organizations) seeking the declaration of triple talaq (instant divorce), polygamy and halala practice among Indian Muslims as unconstitutional and un-Quranic. On the eve of the hearing, IMSD organized a press conference in support of the petitioners.
